I became a carer later in life as I’ve always worked in sales/admin roles, this must be the most rewarding job I’ve had, looking after lovely clients, showing them care and support and I get so much out of it. We are very lucky to work at Hollins Hall with fabulous clients and such beautiful surroundings.
I am a professional carer with years of experience. I have developed so many skills and knowledge since I began my career at Hollins Hall. I am passionate about taking care of the vulnerable. If there is any reason that I chose to be a carer, it is because I am working in an environment where I am appreciated so much, which includes making a difference to other people’s lives.
A potted history, I enjoy engaging with fabulous residents who allow us the privilege of entering their homes to show our care and support, always an enriching insight.
Choosing to work in care was the best career move I ever made. Knowing that I make a real difference to people’s lives every day gives me great pride and satisfaction.
Working with a diverse group of people means that no two days are the same, but the sense of achievement is the same when I go home at night.
My career in care began in a nursing home, then I joined the Hollins Hall care team as a Domiciliary carer, and to assist my mum, Mariana, who is the care manager. My time at Hollins Hall has been a privilege.
After many years working in hospitality & retail I decided to give the care sector a go in 2018 & I’ve never looked back! Having worked in both Domiciliary care & in a Care home setting & now Hollins Hall retirement village. I can honestly say I’ve found my calling until I retire myself.
I became a carer late in life after working as a secretary for more than 30 years. One day at work, when I was feeling particularly lonely with only a computer for company, I picked up a newspaper and read an article entitled ‘A Day in the Life of a Carer’. I never knew such a job existed, but immediately knew it was for me. Afterall, I was already a ‘carer’.
