My career in care began in a nursing home, then I joined the Hollins Hall care team as a Domiciliary carer, and to assist my mum, Mariana, who is the care manager. My time at Hollins Hall has been a privilege, I have met some amazing people along the way, and cared for those who have become like family. We build bonds and friendships.
What makes Domiciliary care so special is that we care for our clients in their own homes. For some, we could be the only people they see that day. I, like the rest of the team, treat each client as an individual, how we would treat our own loved ones. I have experienced some sad times too, with end-of-life care, however, I have felt honoured to be a part of that person’s journey, treating them with dignity and respect, to hold their hard-working hands that have been and seen so much in their lives, to treasure those precious memories they have shared with us whilst caring for them, we are also supporting the client’s families at such a difficult time.
Our team is a small hard working team, we work together well, communicating to make sure our clients receive the very best care we can possibly give. The management team is supportive, always there to give advice, guidance and praise. I love and have so much passion for my job, not only do I feel I have made a difference to our client’s day, they also make a difference to mine. “One person caring for another, represents life’s greatest value!”
